Course Descriptions

Foundation Of Christian Doctrine 
Provides an overview of biblical doctrine from a Christian perspective.  Provides the student with a deeper understanding of the nature of religion and how it affects the believer’s worldview.

The Formation Of A Christian Worldview               
Provides an in-depth study on the evidence of God, the evidence of fulfilled prophecy, Jesus as the Messiah, and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Introduces the student to an understanding of biblical worldview and covers biblical worldview thinking.  

Fundamentals Of Pastoral Care 
Provides the biblical knowledge, counseling skills and techniques to be effective in Pastoral Care. Students gain insight and awareness in recognizing problem areas and applying biblical solutions to resolve them in the area of Pastoral Care.  Introduces in depth overall knowledge for success in the area of Pastoral Care.    

Biblical Leadership And Ethics In Counseling
Introduces the principles of Biblical Leadership in Christian Counseling.  Examines the fundamentals of spiritual leadership in light of God’s calling on your life and equips you to lead effectively in ministry.  Students gain the knowledge and expertise to influence people to move from where they are to where God wants them to be.   

Crisis Counseling I 
Introduces the student to the specialized field of Crisis Counseling with the aim to build a theoretical and practical base of principles, issues and skills that will help in all Crisis Counseling situations.  Examines major stresses and crisis situations from birth to death.  Attention is given to the programmatic and therapeutic response to the crisis.  Builds a strong Biblical Foundation on Crisis Counseling.     

Crisis Counseling II            
Introduces the student to the specialized field of Crisis Counseling with the aim to build a theoretical and practical base of principles, issues and skills that will help in all Crisis Counseling situations.  Builds a strong foundation of practical application to maximize personal Crisis Counseling experience.      

Counseling And Marriage
Introduces the student to the field of marital counseling with the aim to build a theoretical and practical base of principles, issues and skills that will help in counseling situations.  Challenges students to reflect on and explore their own issues along with others as it relates to Christian marriage.  Builds a strong biblical foundation on marriage counseling and increase the overall effectiveness as Christian counselors.

Advance Christian Counseling              
Provides an advanced approach to counseling which is psychologically sound, consistent with scripture, and can be integrated gracefully into the Body of Christ.  Guides students to a more advanced working knowledge of Scripture and the Christian faith.

Clinical Use Of Temperament In Counseling
Provides a systematic study of temperament and its significance for pathological and normal development.  Focuses on the clinical use of knowledge about temperament as it pertains to Christian counseling.  Builds a theoretical and practical base for the student to identify temperament characteristics in diagnostic work ups.    

Christian Development Counseling
Introduces the student to the field of Christian Development Counseling with the aim to build God’s Kingdom through discipleship.  Explores a strategic approach to making disciples that is biblically solid, theologically sound, and practically effective.  Increases students' knowledge and expertise in Christian counseling as it pertains to advancing God’s Kingdom through discipleship.  Students gain a greater insight and awareness to recognize and resolve the issues affecting Christian Development.  Increases students' overall effectiveness as Christian counselors.    

Ministry Of Pastoral Care
Provides an extensive examination of the counseling strategies, therapeutic responses, biblical methodology, and dynamics underlying personal behavior for effectiveness in the Ministry of Pastoral Care.  Students gain a greater insight and awareness to recognize and resolve more complex issues in counseling situations.        

Faith Therapy In Christian Counseling
Gives the student an overall view of faith therapy as it applies to Christian counseling.  Integrates Christian counseling as a whole within the overall process of salvation by faith, and deal with the root issues that underline all psychological problems.  Students develop an understanding of a method of Christian counseling based on the process of salvation by faith.  

Psychology Of Faith
Provides the student an overview of the stages of the development of faith.  Analyzes the life of faith, its movements, transformation, unique features and predictable stages.  Students gain an understanding of the dynamics of faith in Christian counseling.    

Pastoral Care And Youth Counseling
Provides extensive knowledge, counseling strategies, therapeutic responses, biblical methodology, and dynamics underlying personal behavior for effectiveness in Pastoral Youth counseling.  Students gain a greater insight and awareness to identify the problem, discover the cause, examine the effects, and provide biblical solutions to resolve the issues facing our youth.  Provides an in depth and extensive understanding of the issues youth face, help the parent or caregiver gain a strong working knowledge of the issues and appropriate responses.          

Dynamics Of Family Relationships
Provides an in depth study on the process of creating and maintaining marriage and family relationships.  Explains how to integrate the issues on culture and ethnic diversity in assessing the problems areas during counseling sessions to include, power and violence in families, communication in families, work and families, raising children in a diverse society and remarriages and step families.  

Pastoral Care And Church Development
Explores how to give effective counsel and care in a wide range of critical areas as it pertains to developing a church.  Acquire the biblical knowledge, methodology and counseling skills to recognize and resolve issues affecting church development.  Builds a theoretical and practical base of principles, strategies, and therapeutic interventions that will increase the student’s effectiveness in Pastoral Care in the specialized area of Church Development.      

Pastoral Care And Counseling

Builds a strong biblical foundation, analysis, methods, and counseling skills to recognize and resolve issues in counseling situations.  Builds a theoretical and practical base of principles, issues and therapeutic interventions that will increase the student’s effectiveness.  Offers a combination of spiritual and psychological components designed to bring spiritual wholeness to individuals and families.  Students gain the knowledge and expertise needed to increase their overall effectiveness in the area of Pastoral Counseling.     

Ministry Of Pastoral Care I 
Provides an extensive examination of the counseling strategies, therapeutic responses, biblical methodology and dynamics underlying personal behavior for effectiveness in the Ministry of Pastoral Care.  Students gain a greater insight and awareness to recognize and resolve more complex issues in counseling situations.        

Ministry Of Pastoral Care II
Provides an extensive examination of the counseling strategies, therapeutic responses, biblical methodology and dynamics underlying personal behavior for effectiveness in the Ministry of Pastoral Care.  Students gain a greater insight and awareness to recognize and resolve more complex issues in counseling situations.       

Fundamentals Of Clinical Documentation
Provides the student with graduate level training in documentation procedures for mental health professionals.  Provides step by step training in writing case notes, treatment plans, financial policy, and other documentation.  Provides a better understanding of the stringent documentation required in mental health care settings to help the student be less vulnerable to litigation to include the HIPAA requirements.    

Spiritual Warfare And Counseling
Gives the student an overall view of spiritual warfare with the aim to help in Christian counseling situations.  Challenges the students to reflect on and explore their own issues along with others as it relates to the affects of spiritual warfare in their lives.  Builds a theoretical and practical base of principles, issues, and knowledge needed to increase the counselors overall effectiveness.  Provides the student with insight and understanding of temperament from a biblical aspect.  

Psychiatric Diagnoses In Spiritual Issues
Provides an extensive exploration of the relationship between mental health, religion and spirituality.  Students obtain a deeper understanding of the religious and spiritual implications on psychiatric diagnoses according to the DSM IV.   

Advance Christian Counseling
Provides an advanced approach to counseling which is psychologically sound, consistent with Scripture and can be integrated gracefully into the Body of Christ.  Guides students to a more advanced working knowledge of Scripture and the Christian faith.  

Integrative Issues in Christian Counseling
Introduces the student to a model for counseling theory and practice which is consistent with biblical revelation.  Gives the students an opportunity to apply their knowledge of Christian counseling to a diversity of real counseling cases.
